You’ve Got to Question a Story Where the Fruit of Knowledge is Forbidden
24 x 36 inches, Acrylic on Wood
Tof Zapanta, 2011
In a time when our country is the rope in a tug-of-war battle between the Church and the Government, one needs to question whether Religion is safe in the hands of people who are potentially too faithful for their own good. Too faithful — blinded by faith; leaving everything up to the Divine Providence promised by their respective Religions, so inviting that they are seduced into lifting their hands in prayer, rather than lowering them in honest, dignified work. In good hands, Religion can provide hope and inspiration; promotes a positive disposition which if partnered with hard work and dedication, makes for a fruitful and prosperous life, but the question remains (with a rather obvious answer) : is it in good hands here?
